Planning a wedding can be very stressful. A beautiful moment in time can take months, and sometimes even a year to put together. Whether with an intimate few, or a whole crowd of friends and family, wedding celebrations are a big deal to put together. 

Recently, I’ve seen more elopements than I have in the past. The planner, type A in me only wants to run at the thought of this, although I did suggest a “surprise wedding” to my husband back when we were planning. Thinking of all the ways even elopements have changed make me second guess the idea of running away to say “I do”. 

Elopements still deserve to be recognized, even if it’s only a bride and a groom professing their love in front of their one witness and officiant. There are different ways to an invitation into your elopement that can be meaningful, unique and even a keepsake to treasure after the day of. 

Here are just some ways you can still use invitations for your elopement

3 Tips Before You Book Your Wedding Invitation Designer

Newly engaged? Congratulations. So much goes into planning your big day. Here are some tips to think about when choosing your wedding invitation designer.

Congratulations! You’ve got the ring, and now it’s time to put pen to paper and start planning the wedding of your dreams. Just one thing, and this is coming from a place of love, but give yourselves some time to enjoy your engagement. There will be plenty of time to plan, even if you are having a shortened engagement.

There are so many moving pieces coming together when planning your wedding. From securing your date and venue, to agreeing on wedding colors, to finalizing your seating chart (do it in pencil!), so much comes together to make your day great.

As you plan your celebration, don’t forget about your invitations (and save the dates). I mean, how else will your guests know about your wedding day? While you plan and scope out wedding invitation designers (Hi), here are some tips I hope are helpful.

Timely and clear correspondence will make the process smoother and more enjoyable. Plus, it’s always comforting to know you’re working with a professional who genuinely cares about bringing your wedding stationery dreams to life.

As your wedding stationery designer, I am with you all the way. After our initial call, I gather your ideas and send over a vision board along with a proposal with details on our project. If you decide I am the one, there will be several drafts and revisions until your invitations looks exactly how you’d like.

3. Timelines, RSVP and choosing the one.

Working with a custom wedding stationer will give you an invitation set that is specific and unique to you. With that, comes time.

Take into account your stationer’s production timeline and process, as well as your wedding date when planning out your stationery details.

Discuss the production timeline early on, and ensure there's a buffer for any revisions or unexpected delays.

Depending on the logistics of your project, we can begin working together as early as 12 months before your wedding date, especially if we are creating save the dates together.

WHEN TO SEND OUT:

Save the Dates: 9-12 months before wedding

Invites: 8-12 weeks before wedding

Take into account some recent changes to the USPS system before sending out your save the dates and wedding invitations. Think about the location of your guests to you and if your wedding will be a destination wedding before sending out your pieces,

A DESTINATION WEDDING IS TYPICALLY WHEN MORE THAN 75% OF YOUR GUESTS ARE GETTING ON A PLANE TO ATTEND YOUR WEDDING.

Save the dates should be sent out 9-12 months out before your wedding date.

Invitations should be send out 8-12 weeks before your wedding, but also give yourself a buffer if guests are mailing back the RSVP card.
